Newbie solo mining question
« on: November 26, 2013, 04:58:43 pm »
hi all,

I'm a newbie at any kind of mining and I want to try mining for litecoins. I want to give solo mining a shot with my gaming box. It's doesn't have anything special just 1 , XFX HD 6950 radeon. I will do pool mining and probably get serious about the hardware later on. I just want to play around and see mining working for now. I have been reading guides on setting up solo / pool mining with cgminer. I think I'm ok with the settings. The only thing I want to find out before I start is the payaddress when doing solo mining. I saw another miner have a setting for the payaddress but haven't seen one for cgminer in any example yet. I understand you can put that info in your pool account when register with a pool. I just don't want to try solo mining and by some miracle I get lucky then I don't know where the coins are. So how does cgminer know to put coins in my wallet when its doing solo mining?

thanks for the help.

When solo mining, your miner connects directly to wallet using RPC, so you don't need payout address.
The thing is, that you probably gain reward after months! Better start mining in pool - preferably in our :) global-pool.com
